We fancy the thought of having a home or even more a virtual planet of our own out here in cyber space. Many questions have been raised on the purpose of this planet. To that, the answer is that we citizens wish only to share the little knowledge and ideas of ours. Naturally, we would indeed welcome comments and thoughts on matters on our planet. No man is an island, and no planet is a solar system.

Mossies of a different kind...

Here are some photos I took during a recent hike up to Bunga Buah, Genting Highlands, Malaysia with Tom's Jalan-Jalan members and friends. Behold the many mossy wonders flourishing in the cool relaxing climate of Bunga Buah. The fresh and cool air is simply refreshing!

A starfish-like moss forest. These mosses look like miniature coconut or palm trees.

Moss carpeting. They felt so soft and supple just like... the carpet I have at home. What else were you guys thinking?!?!

Moss moss here, moss moss there, moss moss everywhere... but not in my underwear! Hahaha!

A moss hill formed from the buttress of trees.

Moss-infected stone.

Friends of moss, the fungi are aplenty too growing on the bark of fallen trees and rotting branches.

What fungi or moss could this be?

Nope the last picture is not a species of fungus or moss or any kinda flora. It is actually the excrement of a particular fauna, which some of us think is a Tiger!!!

What do you think? Any experts out there? Could it belong to a tiger?

Margarine v.s. Butter

And today we explore an interesting subject on food - Margarine v.s. Butter received via forwarded mails.

===========================================
Both have the same amount of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to margarine's 5 grams.

Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added!

Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.

And now, for Margarine...

Very high in trans fatty acids...
Triple risk of coronary heart disease.

Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol)
Lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol) ...

Increases the risk of cancers by up to five fold...
Lowers quality of breast milk...
Decreases immune response...
Decreases insulin response.

And here is the most disturbing fact....

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC....

This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

You can try this yourself: purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things:

no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) ...

it does not rot or smell differently..because it has no nutritional value, nothing will grow on it...even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why?

Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

I've always thought margarine's the healthier choice or is this just some senseless campaign to bad-mouth margarine? Image hosted by Photobucket.com
